Food4Kids Waterloo Region seeks a passionate Community Engagement Coordinator who will support the successful integration of our Mission and Values in the community. You will harness the power of advocacy through public speaking to various community partners, corporations, donors, and volunteers.
Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and staff to determine needs, coordinate community outreach, build effective relationships, and connect families with community-based resources. Key requirements and attributes of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Refine and implement an effective local community engagement strategy for the benefit of the community and the children we serve. Community engagement includes general support of Food4Kids WR’s mission and financial and in-kind donations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to amplify messaging about Food4Kids WR’s programming and how community members can support severely food-insecure children and youth.
- Increase community engagement through outreach and social media platforms. Meet with community members, deliver presentations, represent Food4Kids WR at meetings, and create campaigns, presentations, coordinate events and other fundraising initiatives.
- Plan and implement events and opportunities that foster deeper connections between the community and Food4Kids WR.
- University degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Prior volunteer or professional experience in community development or volunteer coordination. Experience working within the not-for-profit/vulnerable sector is strongly preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Proficient in (Word, Excel, and Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, CRMs, research, and problem-solving purposes.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
This full-time onsite position offers a combination of a standard office environment and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above-outlined responsibilities. Some weekend and/or evening work may apply.
